Lend me a TREND
One of the events that is most sort after by the fashion world,
‘The Milan Fashion Week’ is finely over.
This season on the runways we saw some dramatic, dark and even the gothic
look for women. Some of the most obvious trends included graphic patterns in prints,
structured and fitted trousers, velvet, narrow jacket shoulders and
multidimensional effects with colors or embroidery and a whole lot of fur.
The Kristina Ti Fall/Winter
2012/2013 collection at the Milan Fashion week was a treat for sore eyes. The
feeling of the whole show was sweet and memorable. The models sashayed down the
runway in very simple but classy silhouettes. The collection accentuated
on shorter hem lines, fur trimmings and
a lot beaded details. We also saw a lot of ruffles through out the collection. Earthy tones and blacks were used in the collection. The vibe of the
show was comfortable and cute.
“An earthly paradise populated
by creatures of fantasy … the eden of feminity..my creativity is expressed
through clothes which make the cavalli women a sensual and mysterious being”
was quoted by Roberto Cavalli himself. Mr.Cavalli stayed true to his brand by
showing a collection with a very high glam and style quotient. Various animal
prints were a constant factor in most of the designs in the collection. There
was a mixture of furs printed with snake motifs, python leather, tiger prints
amongst others. The style quotient was brought out by the use of sophisticated
shiny sequined and glittery fabrics. The long flowing printed skits with
structured and shoulder padded leather jackets were the clear stands in the
entire collection. Roberto Cavalli proved his point n way of living through the
collection that he showcased at the Milan Fashion week.
Massimiliano Giornetti struck
the right balance between hard and soft which most designers fail to achieve in
the Salvatore Ferragamo Fall/Winter 2012/2013 fashion show. The music playing in the
background and the setting of the catwalk provided a dramatic effect as the
models strutted down the runway. He very
effortlessly mixed the perfectly tailored and fitted military jackets with
feminine fabrics like sheer and lace. The blend of military colours with
romantic colours proves his point of
view further. We also saw a lot off-shouldered tops and structured slim fit
leather trousers. The perfect ending for the show was when the song “Army
Dreamers” was played which stressed on the military meets romance theme.
The MaxMara Fall/Winter 2012/2013 show had
a very minimalistic yet modern feeling. A lot of whites, greys and neutral
tones were seen. Textured fabrics with a hint of wool were prevalent through
most part of the collection. You can see the fashion forward and modern women
of today wearing the clothes seen in this collection. The clothes were perfect
for attending formal events or even everyday work. It was a very sophisticated
and wearable collection.
The most predominant colours
were black and orange and a mix of both in the Prada Fall/Winter 2012/2013 collection. The mood of the entire
show was sober and contemporary as the models walked down the purple-carpeted
catwalk. There were psychedelic prints with layered long tops which was seen in
the runway. The use of velvets were also seen. There was no standing out factor
in the entire collection but Muccia did not disappoint in the designs that she
showcased this year.
Fun, fun and more fun was the
feeling that was portrayed in the Blumarine Fall/Winter 2012/2013 collection. The
collection was composed of splashes of bright neon coloured fur coats thrown
upon white pants & jumpsuits, shiny metallic jackets & dresses and
hologram effect. Anna Molinari’s collection definitely stood out amongst in the
others in the entire Milan fashion week. The models looked like they were
heading to a party right after stepping out of the runway in these clothes. The
models had a ‘bad girl’ feel to them. There were also snippets of leopard
prints seen on jeans, jackets and dresses which was beautifully paired with
shiny metallic fabrics. It was very evident that Anna Molinari had a lot of fun designing this
collection.
After watching the Versace Fall/Winter 2012/2013 collection, one is left wondering where exactly the girl wearing these
clothes is going. The designer fails to paint a clear picture with this collection. You get a gothic feeling
from the clothes and the way the models have been styled. Many variations of
the Cross symbol with sequined detailing was seen. Black was the predominant
colour in the entire collection. A little splash of yellow and orange were also
seen. I’d like to emphasis on the fact that the collection did not leave any
impact on me and had me very confused.
